Rohde & Schwarz equips Parchim International Airport with complete ATC communications system
Baltic Airport Mecklenburg GmbH, the airport operating company, has placed an order with Rohde & Schwarz Systems GmbH for a new turnkey ATC system. The system is based on TCP/IP technology and uses VoIP-capable radios and communications systems. Voice over IP (VoIP) in line with Eurocae ED137 is the upcoming communications technology for ATC. Parchim International Airport will receive a highly advanced, future-ready system.
The main radio system, which uses R&S®Series4200 radios, consists of several standalone radio sites. Each radio is designed for five radio channels, ensuring high availability of communications between tower and cockpit. In the first phase, Rohde & Schwarz will install two controller working positions and a third working position for the tower backup system. This third working position is independent of the main system and provides three additional radio lines.
The fully IP-based R&S®VCS-4G voice communications system (VCS) connects the radio system and the controller working positions. Rohde & Schwarz added this state-of-the-art solution to its ATC portfolio in the spring of 2011. The R&S®VCS-4G features a fully redundant design with a large number of interfaces to external systems, such as a voice recording system and telephone lines.
The scalable system can be easily expanded.
